Dr. Shankar Jalan is awarded “Honorary Doctorate Award”

Honorary Doctorate Award (Honoris Causa) is presented to DR. Shankar Jalan from West Bengal state for his contribution in the field of Social Services. He is contributing his life in rendering selfless services towards society. It has been recorded in Magic Book of Record.

Journalist Shankar Jalan has received letters from President and Governor for writing.
The proverb 'The morning shows the days' fits cent percent on senior Hindi journalist and writer Shankar Jalan. At the age of about 15-16, Jalan started writing letter to editors as a hobby in various newspapers, not only from West Bengal but also regularly published in many major Hindi newspapers of the country since last 15-20 years.
Jalan, a journalist originally from Rajasthan, was born on January 1, 1966, in the city of Kolkata, which is called the cultural capital of the country, to Sarda devi-Nandlal Jalan. He was born in a very middle-class family, Shankar had a love for Hindi since childhood, while Jalan's other friends were learning English typing, while Jalan, who aspired to become a journalist, gave importance to Hindi typing, which later helped him to become a successful journalist. Jalan secured 92 and 84 percent marks in Hindi in the fourth and tenth board examinations respectively.
Jalan, a life member of Kolkata Press Club, is a journalist recognized (Accredited) by the Government of West Bengal. Apart from writing in newspapers, Jalan also writes in selective Hindi magazines and has also authored two books on female foeticide. Jalan's first book was 'Sun Meri Maa' and the next book was 'Dastavez'.
Jalan is actively associated with many voluntary organizations of the metropolis and has been honored by many organizations for remarkable journalism. Raising public interest issues, interviewing eminent people, covering fire incident, such has been Jalan's favorite subjects.
Jalan has so far interviewed Former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, Lok Sabha Speakers Meera Kumar and Om Birla, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Jagat Guru Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati, Acharya Dharmendra, Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, Bhajan Samrat Anoop Jalota, Former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya, Comedians Sunil Jogi and Arun Jaimani, Art of Living chief Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Century legend Amitabh Bachchan.
Apart from this, Jalan has fantastically presented his views on some of the major topics like elderly widower-widow living single life, female sculptor and also about Asia's major 'Redlight' area, and has proved his writing skills. The Governor of West Bengal Gopal Krishna Gandhi wrote a letter to Jalan not just for congratulating him for successfully presenting a cover story related to President Pratibha Patil and Rabindra Bharati University in the program of All India Marwari Conference, but also wished him for a bright future.
